The Freshwater Terrarium System.
These systems are truly for someone looking for something different.  As with the planted system, there are many different biotopes that can be recreated with a terrarium, paludarium, or vivarium.  Simpler set ups are easily accessible as basic homes for a turtle or frog.  The possibilities are unlimited!

A Terrarium System can be almost any size, but the larger the better to allow for growth of the plants and animals that live in the system.  Filtration and other equipment can be nominal to elaborate depending on the volume of water within the system and depending on the purpose of the water within the feature.  Strong lighting is almost always important for the cold-blooded reptiles and amphibians that may be present in the tank.  Feeding and watering may be a consideration for this type of system as many of the inhabitants may have special requirements for their nutrition or even just "how" they eat.

Certainly the Terrarium System is a very unique system and is well suited for the individual looking for something different in a room water feature.  As all of the systems the terrarium can function as an educational piece, but possibly even more so than the others due to the amazing variety of options.  It's difficult to pinpoint a particular feel of the Terrarium System, but tropical rain forest surely begins to set the mode for this type of system!
